that looks sweet brian..you still doing a basement sump? caus looks like that stand is sealed in the back lol..PM me the price you paid for that beauty,I was going to diy my stand, but that thing is nice..

Have you thought about glasscages? 1/2 hour with a razorblade cleaning the excess silicon saves a lot of money. I'd love a high end custom build if it was in the budget; Miracles' qc is heads above GC's.

One of the local shops has a Glasscages rimless tank on display. From a distance it looks nice. However, if you get within 5 feet you see the truly crappy silicone job as well as the glass edges are not even close to smooth. They had to add their own plastic edging just to make it presentable.

Love the dark stain. It's going to look great when you are finished.

A lot of people in the Hudson Valley use their rimless tanks, and all will tell you if you're willing to take the time cleaning up all the excess silicone, you'll get a pretty good low iron glass tank not only at a fraction what the premium custom builders charge, but for less than the retail brands charge as well. You are getting what you pay for; with GC you're not getting beveled or penciled polished edges, but they are not raw either. The tanks themselves are beasts, solidly overbuilt. I love Oceanic tanks (have two), they pay attention to the details.

i hear bad things about glasscages.....but never actually herd it form somebody who has one.....

:wavehand:

I can't say that I have one anymore since the bottom cracked on it after it was setup after 2 months.

Of the three tanks we ordered from glasscages, two broke and we were too afraid to set up the third one.

+1. Between the sub-par customer service and the horrible tank quality, I'm surprised they are still in business!

Brian- The stand looks great!

the reef shoppe in rochester has a rimless glasscages tank. craftsmanship was horrible. silicone everywhere. DIY's are better...

sometimes saving a few bucks isn't worth it.... I am still undecided what to do about a tank. I may just get a regular marineland tank and drill it with a gl*******s kit. Its not how pretty the tank is, its how pretty the stuff in the tank is....lol And my stand and canopy will look awesome. So that will make up for it a touch....lol
I will attach a pic of the finished stand.

I dont want to use a tank with over flows like that. IMO they take up a lot of room and make a lot of noise. Seeing that I am downgrading in size, I am trying to make a setup that I can utilize every bit of tank size that I can.......
But thanks for the heads up Todd.
How are your tanks doing??
