Thanks everyone! It was a surprising loss, he was fine until the night before when I noticed him breathing heavily. At that point I knew it wouldn't be long. I have no idea why.... my guess is old age. He had been in captivity for 5 yrs.... but who knows.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my black tang a couple months ago. I had him for 3 years and he was about 7 1/2" long. The tank looks really good.
