Brian's 270 Starphire

what other wrasses do you have in the tank??? I currently have a lineatus, blue sided fairy, and a melanurus wrasse. I want to add a pair of flames, male rhamboid, and maybe a labouti. I have just read that the females are the one's that cause all the issues. But what do I know, all the wrasses I have know are males!!! Tomorrow I have a male five bar mystery wrasse and a male exquisite wrasse coming as well................ouch! I'm going to have a wrasse war going on:spin2:

I have a mystery wrasse, beside that just the 5 flames for now. Female seem to be harder to get now a days. But from everything I have read male are the poorer shipper.

great pictures...are the females actually lay eggs...?

The eggs are very small, I doubt that I could see them unless I strained them. I could see the sperm the male released. He did this a few different time in the session.

Wow the photos are fantastic Brian. The colors on the male are really pronounced. Did they deepen from what they are normally? Goes to show how healthy they are due to your husbandry skills

Thats awesome Brian that you were able to see this and capture some pics to share. The male sure is beautiful!

Dan I'm not sure if they deeped, but they have changed over the last few week. Most notable change is the white on the lower body. Here a better pic for you ;).

Awesome photo Brian, look at him in all his maleness :eek2: The white areas do look strage to me I thought that once they got this far along they would be a solid yellow in that area. I gotta find replacement females for my male ASAP :(

Dan, the white is just a recent thing. He was all yellow for a long time before the white ever appeared. I wonder if it's because of one of the of flames turning male, he has been more out going since that happened.

Amazing pictures of the wrasses Brian, just outstanding!~

Thanks Dave, lately I have been enjoying photography more and more. It just might pass reefing as my favorite hobby :p.

That's interesting...have you noticed aggression between the two males? I wonder if the other female changing initiated the spawning behavior. Nature is funny, everything I've read says that the females will stay females unless the male dies and experience says otherwise :spin2: Always contridictions to the "rules", that's why I'll always be a noob (at least one of the reasons) :lmao:

There hasn't been to much aggression between the two, but I do have my eye on them and will most likely remove the other male.

Nice multicolor, Brian. Do you have only one so far? They look cool in duos or trios.

Thanks Kenny, I had two but the second one never made it out of QT. Still planning on pairing it but, just haven't found one small enough to my liking.

Great pics Brian and nice addition regarding the multicolor. One of my favorites.

Do you find him picky with the sps/lps, just the occasional nipping here and there or is he a model citizen?

Would love to see an fts. :)

Regards,
André
