Brian's 270 Starphire

All you large tank people with your beautiful Angelfish.... It really has me thinking.

My Sargassum Triggerfish just died of unknown causes at the hobbyists place whose taking care of all my stuff. While extremely sad, it did let me start thinking about other big fish I could potentially keep. The thing I will miss most about my trigger is his personality, do you think large angelfish have good personalities? Are there some that are better then others. The only large angelfish I've ever seen in person we're extremely skittish...

Alex, IME angelfish are some of the most personable fish you can keep. Mine eats right out of my hand and is like a puppy dog right up against the glass at all times while I'm around (along with other sin the past).

You won't be dissapointed ;)

Great pics Brian and nice addition regarding the multicolor. One of my favorites.

Do you find him picky with the sps/lps, just the occasional nipping here and there or is he a model citizen?

Would love to see an fts. :)

Regards,
André

Thanks André, He has not picked at any corals as of yet. So far is has been a model citizen :).

Alex sorry to hear about the Trigger. i know the feeling all to well as I lost all but one of my fish in the move.

As for angelfish with personalities, Chaetodontoplus have some of the best personalities that you will find among fish. My Chaetodontoplus septentrionalis is like a puppy dog :).

Love the shots of your flames Brian. Great pictures.. How is the blue line doing? Any trouble with him?

Thanks Brad! The blueline is doing good. As for picking a coral, no problem what so ever. One of the best fish I have owned. He and a few of my other fish have a little ich now and then but I hope that a few changes I have made will resolve that.

Those are the exact traits I liked about my trigger! Of course, when he ate out of my hand it kinda hurt....

I guess I'm lucky then. I lost almost all my SPS corals but only lost two out of nine fish.

You definitely have me thinking now... I had thought about trying to get a pair of Zebra angelfish or some other species of Genicanthus, but a single Chaetodontoplus would probably fit in with my stocking plans better. Any advice on which ones you consider "safer" with corals? Emperor angels are some of my favorite all time fish, but most stories I hear say that they especially love to snack on zoanthids and meaty LPS. My system is mainly going to be SPS, but I do want to keep some zoanthids, some acans, and a candy cane and pagoda coral I have had forever.

Zoanthids and acans might be a problem.... you never know with angels. I think you will be safer with Genicanthus but, will loss the personality is Chaetodontoplus.

As far as which Chaetodontoplus, that's up to you and what you like. IMO they are all great ;).
