Brian's 270 Starphire

Looks like you may have some cooperative fish when it comes time to trap them ... hopefully they don't catch on to the game too quick when it starts ;)

The project begins :D (I'm going to be trapping some fish this week too.)

Good luck Dan!

Good luck Brian and I'll talk to you soon ;)

Thanks Mark.... I'll keep you updated ;).

Did you build or buy the fish trap? If you bought it, where did you get it?

A friend of mine built it. It's not hard to build and it works well. I have used it for a few years now.

All the Best !!!

Thanks!

Let's hope they don't..... I do have a back up plan :).

Your plans look to be shaping up nicely, I wil likely be doing something very similar but time will tell for sure. Still on the fence as you know.

If you need that fish traps big brother let me know, it is here and obviously I am not using it currently.

Talk to you this afternoon.

Thanks Scott, I might have to grab it if I stop over tonight. BTW thanks for working for me, don't think my body could handle being up for another 29 hrs staight :eek1:.

How about a pic as we wait for some fish :D.

Nice photo of the Orenji...the last photo is a little dark at least on my screen it is. Still amazed at the PE you get though. Nice healthy colony.

Nice shots Brian. Your baby blueline is younger than mine!

I'll be watching how your fallowing goes as Im going to be doing the same thing. Good Luck Buddy!

She pretty small. Like I said Kevin said it might have been the smallest out of the group.

As for fallowing, still working on get a few fish out of the tank, but there is progress ;). Do you have an ich issue too?

Yeah, I never QT'd any fish before my tank move last year. Now with my fish room i;ve ot 3 QT tanks. I noticed just a tiny bit of ich so I want to be proactive and qt all the fish and leave the tank fallow for 8 weeks. I know what you mean about wanting to be sure about the health of fish when you start spending some real change! especially with fish that are hard to get again, i.e. true personifer, HEALTHY Multibar trio/Venustus, conspic ect...

Dang, Brian. You sure got some serious patience. Didn't you leave the tank fallow a couple of times before already? I am just too lazy. Still haven't set up the Apex or installed the Airstar that I got, what, like a year ago? Most fish are pretty easy to catch, but there are always that straggler or two that seem to just drive you nuts. Me? I would just throw the new fishies in there and say, "There ya go buddy. Good luck!" :lol2: Well, with that said. Good luck to ya buddy!

Sorry to hear about that Ryan.

For me it's not all about the health. Personally I feel that i could live with ich and the fish would continue to be fine, add weight and grow. It more about the fear that small/ juvenile fish might not do as well. I have been offer a number of juvenile fish that I have had to past on because I was unsure that if added to the display they would be able to succeed.

Kenny, the last time was more or less a half hearted effort. I never removed all of the fish as there were a few that i couldn't catch. Not to mention that I had to add to fish back before the 8 week that I plan on. This time I have my better half on board and will be removing all the fish at any cost ;).

I just did the same. Everyone to quarantine for 8 weeks of fallow... Best of luck with your fallow period. Looks like we will both be going fish-less until the holidays! :bounce2:

Did you say if you were doing hypo or cupramine?

Thanks.... best of luck to you too!

I will be using cupramine. I will treat for 8 week and the last 2 with out to make sure it is gone ;).

Have you decided to do straight 8 of cupramine or 4 on, 2 off, 4 on, 2 off like we were chatting about before?

I am still toying doing this, I mean it will be 8 weeks or so before the 520 is ready for fish anyhow (at least....). Looks like I am going to have to come over and take up a little more of your tank space....just the sump this time :)

I'm going with 8 weeks stright of cupramine. I decided this based on the timing that the 10 week fallow will be finished. Going 4 on, 2 off, 4 on, 2, will run me 2 weeks long into the holidays.

The 2 weeks off at the end should be long enough time for any of the ich to show it any is still live. Also 8 weeks of cupramine should kill any ich that the fish have. 8 week would be equal to 2 life cycles of ich. I also will not be added all the fish back at once, but rather a few each week. Just incase the fallow period wasn't long enough. That way I don't have to go though and catch every fish again. As we all know things could change :).

Sounds like a good plan Brian. Sounds like all your QT tank is full, that mean this little nipper I have here may not be heading your direction? :) She is pretty awesome....she is getting along great with the other juvenile of the same that is in the tank with it. Maybe I should sell you the big one and keep the small pair myself :)

Just keep all three and make it a TRIO.

The Single will be Lonely in Brian's Tank

A Trio of these fish will make a very nice addition to the 520

Just My 2 Cents
Sorry Brian
