Bright red FLamehawk NOT so bright red anymore

Really red flamehawk NOT so red anymore.

I bought my flamehawk approximately a month ago. And when it arrived it was sooooo bright red. I've noticed the last few days... its NOT so bright red anymore. Its more like a pale pink from the middle to the bottom of the fish.

It IS still eating. And it appears to become more red when eating, but then its color returns back to pale pink.

Any suggestions or reasons why my flamehawk seems to be losing its bright red color?

I've had many other flamehawks in the past... none has ever lost its color.

I would examine diet and water quality. Both play a role in marine fish coloration.

I plan on doing a water change when I get home from work. As it seems now the purple tang appears to be affected. I've noticed white patches on the tang and its color appears to be a bit pale as well.

I went away for the weekend, had a family member feeding my fish. When I returned 2 days later... something is DEFINITELY going on.

I've been keeping the lights off to help lessen the stress.


Does anybody recommend medicating the tank? I'm not sure if I should go to that extreme??????

I've other fish in the tank... they do NOT appear to be affected.
Only the purple tang and flamehawk.
