Brightest female anthias available

Hey guys,

Looking to get a medium sized school of anthias (~6) for my 185fowl tank.

All other tankmates are peaceful.

I want as much bright color as possible, and given they swim in 1 male and the rest female, i wanted to know what the brightest female anthias are in the 20-40$ range(online prices).

Thanks!

Matt

I'd say ignitus anthias... even the females are pretty. Lyretails are also nice, but a bit larger, don't hang out as much with each other, and can be more aggressive.

agreed...my female Ignitus is probably the prettiest. My female pink Squareback is a nice bright yellow and as mentioned my female Lyretails are a nice bright orange and yellow, but they are more aggressive and larger than the Ignitus...

What about the bartletts? In terms of how their vividness compares to the ignitus?

I wish there was better pictures online of male and females of the anthias family.

Hands down the ventralis anthias! But some people report them to be difficult to keep.

Just reread your question, missed the $20-40 mark the first time. I'd say Bartletts for sure within that.

read all the threads about barletts. imo they are very aggressive and kill each other off long term, not to mention they ALL turn male very quickly in the home aquarium. there are much better choices
