Bringing old skimmer back to life, old sand/dirt in bottom that I cannot get out

Posted it in the equipment forum, but haven't heard anything back.

Anyway, I have an ATI bubble master 250 that has been sitting for a few years and there is dirt/ dried sand in the very bottom which is impossible to get to. I have let it sit in vinegar/water, ran the pumps, but it cannot come out (some of the sand is loose).

Would you use this in an established system? Any risks?

Thanks

IMO as long as you have not used that in a system with Copper or something odd, I would use it for a month or two and try to clean it again. If you cant get all of the sand out of the bottom, so be it......

No never copper, but was sitting outside. It probably has about 1/8 a cup of sand on the bottom that will not come out. I am hoping the vinegar would have helped to disinfect it.

Probably going to put it in tonight to the tank to replace the current skimmer

Yeah i've done it while she's at work. I wouldn't attempt it with her home. Especially after she's seen what I clean out of it.

The last thing I tried was a hose with a jet nozzle and it worked like a charm

Thank you for that lacy and thank you everyone else too

You're welcome and glad I could help. One of the first things I grab is the hose and jet nozzle when trying to clean things.
