ok i think i just found a bw in my tank that hitch hiked his way in. can i dip all my rock in fw to get rid of them and does it hurt the rock or bacteria in anyway or just the worm. i intent on lots of corals im not gonna let this buger screw my tank up. i dont wanna play with him just kill him

You are going to have bristle worms in your tank, and that isn't a bad thing. Just pull out the REALLY BIG ones from time to time if they freak you out (they freak me out.) They are a vital part of your clean up crew. Throwing all your live rock in fresh water is going to kill your bacteria and you'll have to recycle your tank -- and you'll probably lose your tang.

i guess he will will have to stay cause i aint killing the rock thanks. any damage to reef though? he is about a half inch long does the traps work

Most bristle worms are completely harmless. I have one very large one over 12 inches long. It comes out to eat with the fish everyday and and is a good member of the CUC. If you have one that you have more, if you are having no problems, then just let it be.

Trust me, you already have more than one. They stay in the rocks during the day. Anyway you will eventually get tired of trying to get rid of them Sisyphus.

thanks for the help i think ill set a trap to get him i dont want a bunch a lil worms in my tank they look like parasites. lol

in simple terms: these worms are DESIRABLE in reef aquaria.

In fact, if you have a FO or FOWLR you might want to consider tossing some bristleworms into it- they make a natural clean up crew.
