bristle worm sucked thru return pump...

Super Abound
do you think it would live? I was trying to grab it and it got sucked thru and I did not see any whole/parts come out of my return lockline... it probably happened too fast for me to see it.

I'm gonna keep my eye on my display but do you think he survived?

edit: the worm was only about 3/4" inch long

Most likely it did, and will grow back parts it might have lost. Regardless, usually if you have ONE you have a lot more then one. ;D Why grab it? They are beneficial!

I know I have more, I have one lurking around my refugium chamber right now.

I have heard they're beneficial and I've heard they're bad... i figured I didn't want to take any chances, ive probably pulled about 6 out so far.

they are all pinkish/orange which makes me think they may be one of the bad kinds. I'm sick of chasing them now tho lol

I used to have a 3 footer living in my sump as a pet...kind of a novelty.

He ended up in the mag 24 one day, and afterwards every so often I would catch a glimpse of short bristleworms in the display as big around as your finger

so, yes, the segments can and will survive no problem

as far as chasing the worms...... Save the effort and instead spend your time doing something that is actually beneficial to your system ;)

a 3 foot long one must be creepy lol. that had to have made a mess when he went thru the pump at that size...

should I at least pay attention and make sure they aren't eating my corals? do the meat eating ones just eat snails and other inverts? i'm not even sure of what the carnivorous ones eat lol

but I will take your advice, most of the ones ive seen came in with my chaeto i put in my refugium chamber hopefully they just stay away from the pump lol
