Eunicid worms are nasty little things. They grow up to 8 feet long, can survive being cut and will split into multiple worms. A google search states that they are covered with thousands of bristles which are capable of inflicting a nasty sting resulting in permanent numbness.

Can I ask how are you guys Id this thing. How do you tell the difference between a bristle worm and an eunicid worm

Not a bristle worm. A eunicid. Dangerous to fish. It can have a useful life in your sump. But they grow large and can harm fish.

Don't discard it. Someone will take it in your area, I can almost guarantee it. It is an awesome worm to keep in a species only tank. You're lucky you could remove it without it breaking in half or something.

They're supposed to be almost impossible to catch. Funny that you didn't even know what it was, and just casually got him out. Hope you don't have any more.

Are you guys sure it was a bottit worm I mean it wasn't in the sand. It was like 12 inches up on my monticap. I also hope I don't have anymore.
