Hi all what are the pro and cons on having bristle worms in our tanks?{Reef or fish only tanks}Some sites say good to have and others sites say bad, get rid of them. Thanks you for your replies.....

The sites that say 'bad' are overgeneralizing from the few species that eat corals or mollusks. _most_ of the worms that you'll find in your tank are detrivores, and good for your tank.

you want them. Don't touch them because they'll sting your fingers, but they're harmless to corals. If you see one on something dead, remember its function is to eat the dead: its mouth parts cannot harm the living or newly dead, because it depends on decay to be able to slurp down the food it takes.

Some researchers think that corals cannot thrive without them, because they break down waste so fine corals can absorb it.

They are great for a tank and most the ones we get are coral safe. If your coral are fine the you should be safe. But some can eat fish if they get big enough and ungry enough. The can pack a wollup so always use no-powdered gloved whene working in the tank. I have a pretty big one and i see him only at night.I think he maybe eating my cierth snails.
