bristletooth tangs

Can anyone tell me about their experiences with any of the bristletooth tangs?

Are they known for their diseases or anything of that sort?

I have a 130 gallon tank that currently houses (2) Percula clown fish, and a few snails and a few hermits. Obviously I have room for a bristletooth tang, but just looking at a little "heads up" from other reefers that have had them.

All tangs are ich bombs....
You've got to quarantine them.
They're pretty hardy once they're acclimated, like usual tangs, but feed nori as usual...
I haven't had one but this seems to be the consensus. White tail bristletooth seems to be the best

Yes!!!! I have an adult chevron tang that some how developed a liking to eating all my acans!!! Nips at everything!!! ****es me off but my wife won't let me get rid of it. She likes the lip marks it leaves on the glass, it has huge DSLs.

Anyway, love the fish, hate its habits. Loves LPS for some reason.

I have a two-spot blue eyed, and he's a real charmer. Very well behaved and very curious. When first introduced he harassed my blenny quite a bit, but that has since subsided. Mine wont eat algae sheets and therefore constantly grazes on the rocks and glass. Luckily he eats frozen food like a pig :D
My experience with bristletooths are, that you either get a model citizen or a complete terror. There's not much in between like the Zebrasoma tangs.

I have kept the Kole Tang on 2 different occasions. They are pretty hardy once they get through the acclimation process. Key with them is too make sure they have enough swimming room and don't get stressed out. Both of my Kole were complete jerks. They can be hit or miss and are considered to be the less aggressor of all the Tangs. Both were aggressive than my Yellow Tang. Other than that they were good fish.

I have kept quite a few (mostly Kole) and would recommend them. They can present some feeding challenges as they are primarily slime algae and detritovores. Plenty of live rock is a necessity. Not as susceptible to ich as a fish lie the Achilles, but it's a tang so it will get ich. I've not had issues with any of mine eating inverts, but every fish is a risk on some level.

LMAO jbdvhp. Huge DSLs, eh? I literally LOLed.

LOL!!! No joke, this fish is the one that every other fish at school talks about. When it grazes off the glass, the lip marks look like voluptuous human lips. I'll take a pic to prove it. LMAO

We have a Tomini and he is the hardest working fish in our tank, always picking at rock and glass, generally a great fish, never had a problem with him.

I had a two spot bristle tooth tang I had to get rid of. He was a MAJOR jerk. Chased all the fish around. He had a terrible personality and I think usually they should be okay though. Mine just sucked.
