Brittle Star Missing

I added a brittle starfish a few days ago and after it went into the rocks, I haven't seen it again. This isn't it, but it was what it looked like:

It was about 6" total length. I did notice that my CBS went over to it and picked at it immediately after it was added. I added some food and the CBS moved to another spot in the tank.

I know they primarily live under the rock work, but shouldn't I start to see some of the legs sticking out from the crevices? I've used a flash light to search after lights out for it and no luck. Is this normal?

Normal. It will probably come out at some time..or not.

the only time I see mine is when I feed the tank.

ya normal i only see mine at night for the most part once in awhile it comes out when i feed during the day

I figured I'd see a tip of a leg during feeding, but nothing.

I have two in my 180 and I only get a glimpse of a tentacle every 6 months or so. My giant green serpent star is another story. Every time food touches the waters surface it comes flying out of the rocks.
