Originally posted by impur I've never heard of pods eating zoos. Are you sure they were pods? Are you sure the zoos were healthy?
well... they are little shrimp looking things a few mm long, and look just like the pics i have seen of some amphipods... they are definitly not nudis and they were in my tank long before i got my first zoos. they always start off on zoos that were recently fragged or slightly damaged in some way, but then they continue to eat every single polyp on that rock, not just the damaged ones. it's really obnoxious because i know the zoos would have lived if left alone, they were just healing up a little from being fragged. this basically means i can never frag a zoa and keep it in my tank without both parts being eaten! :mad2: and I don't really think i have room in my tank for another fish even if i could get one that would eat the pods, it's a pretty busy tank already.
If your worried about the pods,,,, what about a six line... Any tank's got room for one of those....
I know what you mean about the fragged zoas.... they will continue to eat the dead flesh from the recent fragging which can irritate the zoas causing them to die off a little more and then they eat that...sort of a chain reaction....
i have a 37 gallon cube, it has a firefish, clownfish, watchman goby, and 5 chromis... do you really think it has room for a 6-line? I'll get one if it does, i just thought it looked sort of crowded already.
Yeah my blues grow good for me, Its just finding a spot where they donet get blasted by too much light. They fade under full strength 400w 10k halides, But if you have the purple deaths 10k's make them glow. They want more.
well, i'll never have cool ones like purple deaths or tubs blues, but my blue frag i got for free from a friend grows like a weed, I keep it under a 175w 14k iwasaki. It does fade a bit in the parts that are directly hit.

and here's the rock turned around, you can see how much brighter the shaded parts are
