broken spongodes

I just bumped my spongodes while I was cleaning the glass with a magfloat and it broke into three pieces. It seemed a little too easy to break. Is this expected, or is this a bad sign.

you broke a piece of Spongodes? Bright green with brown polyps? Mine is like stone. Was it a delicate piece or something? Seriously, mine is very strong. Have you checked your Magnesium recently? How often do you do waterchanges?

I do a weekly 3 gal water change on my 30 gal. I don't have a magnesium test, but when I've had it tested it has been consistently low. Is that a sign of low mg? I just bumped it with the float, so it seems really brittle.
