Broodstock Food

Clown Pimp
I have been feeding my Clowns (adults) a mixture of Otohime and NL Spectrum Pellets in addition to the frozen and fresh, but I have the fish feeders drop in tiny bits of the Otohime and NL Spectrum over the course of the day when I am away.

I wondered if the Otohime and NL Spectrum are good or should I find another.

I get mixed reviews on the NL Spectrum from people, but when I ask others about Otohime, I get a blank stare.

What do you prefer for the dry portion of a diet? I'd feed frozen and fresh all day but it would gum up the feeder :lmao:

I utilize NL spectrum as well for the dry side of the diet. Works Great! What type of negatives have you heard?

Some breeders don't like the NL because they float and skiddish clowns most often won't travel far from the pot to get it. Then if it sinks, the fish won't eat a lot of it, and it sits on the bottom to cleanup later.

Ideally, a buoyant food that was a mid water floater would be ideal.

I use the NL in the auto feeder, I had to place the feeder 10" above the tank to get them to start to sink once they hit the water, otherwise they float and end up at the other end of the tank on the bottom.

This seems to be an issue with some breeders. There are concerns about the makeup of the diet, but more so about the pollution that is causes because of the way it floats and then dissolves.

Many people are unaware of Otohime as we never have really marketed it towards the hobby. We market TDO - top dress Otohime to the hobby market and its been gaining steam.

Otohime is one of the worlds top finfish aquaculture feeds. Its designed not only for fish nutrition, but also for a high feed conversion which makes it an ideal closed system feed. Less poop = less waste in the system.

Gresham,

My clowns love the Otohime, Just wish it offered more of a midwater float for longer suspension for the clowns. But I feed it daily. It was a suggested food on MBI.

Keep up the good work!

@Justin...

Try either S1 or S2. They are mamurized so they tend to float a little better. We do not offer them in small sizes though, just the 2kg :(

@Coral_addict..

Yes to both....

but with ANY feed, there is a risk your fish may not accept it. I've seen every feed denied by at least a dozen fish ;)

Following along because I was wondering the same thing about the Otohime. If it would help with better nutriention for my clownfish that are breeding.
