Brooklynella "Clownfish disease"

The percula pair I got this weekend died from brooklynella. The fish seemed healthy at the store. I was not aware that this "Clownfish disease" existed. Oh well, stuff happens and you learn. I'm glad it wasn't marine velvet or something else that could kill off my tank.

My question is, can I add a replacement pair of clownfish to my tank? How does this disease work? Will the new clownfish become infected and die as well? I plan on buying a mated pair that have been established in captivity for several years and I do not want the same thing happening.

as far as i know the tank should remain fishless for 4 weeks as i believe its a parasite that is the problem that manifests in the gills initially.

i lost my Deborae and Eibli Angels to this recently.

Thanks for the help... Wow this sounds much worse than I thought. I can't seem to catch a break lately. My fault for not QTing. Is it possible that my fish can suppress the parasite if they are very healthy? (Similar to what I have going with ich)

So far all my other fish look fine. Veraciously eating as always. I will monitor them closely for the next few weeks. Picked some ruby rally treatment (closest thing to formalin I could find) so I will use that if it becomes necessary

I've also read that increasing the oxygen level in the tank is a good idea as the mucus reduces the flow of water through their gills which i guess is a bit like emphysema in humans so the fish slowly suffocates.

i think keeping your water quality good with nice flow and oxygen is a great starting point mate.
