hi guys, does anyone have a suggestion how to get rid of brown algae, its hairy like? its weird because i never had this problem before i have my tank close to two years now, suddenly it just multiply...if anyone have a suggestion how to get rid of it, it would be great.. thanks...

Algae is a sign of excess nutrients in the water, and an abundance of light. Kill the nutrients,or the lights (or both) and the algae will go away. If you want it done faster, a yellow tang should do the trick. Also most emeralds love the stuff too.

Yep. I would throw in a couple of water changers to cut the nutrients as well. I know people who cut their photo period in half and you can alway turn the lights off for a couple of days. Your skimmer will go crazy.

Thanks guys...alll you guys are right..i just adjusted my timer for my metal halide to 12hrs..i actually put it longer at i think 14hrs...
and i need to get a yellow tang too, i dont have any tangs in my tank..Thanks again guys...

hey, ReedRodz, as soon as you have your algae problem under control, I'd like to buy or borrow your yellow tang (if you get one). I think I'm gonna have the same battle on my hands.
