Brown anemones

Hi, I have had my 40g tank up and running for about a year now. I noticed that I am getting some small brown anemones popping up. At first I noticed one and thought that it was no big deal. Now I am able to count 10 atleast, and more showing up all the time. i am afraid that they are going to over run my tank in not to long. Does anybody have any advice on how to get rid of them? I really don't want to kill them but I don't know what to do with them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I have a canister filter and I found a few of them living in there. I didn't know it was possible for them to live in total darkness. I suppose they are the same kind but they are completely white from being in the dark of the filter.

Sounds like apitasia ( sp ), they are a nuisance and should be removed from your tank.

Injecting them with Kalk paste works, and some ( myself included ) have had good luck with peppermint shrimp eating them.

are they always brown? can some be clearish / white ?

In the past I had brownish ones, and white/clear ones -- in a very low light area.

Will pepermint shrimp harm the cleaner shrimp that I have in there now?
