Brown clownfish... not "Black and White"???

Learning More Each Day
I just got a clowfish shipped to me and it is supposed to be a "missbar black and white". However, he/she looks much more chocolate in base color than black.

It is also bigger than most of the clownfish I have ever seen, so I was wondering if all Black and White clownfish get lighter and more chocolatly as they get older, or if I don't have a true black and white???

I know it isn't a great pic, but you can see the coloration isn't fully black... but not orange either...

Most likely it's a cross between an orange and white ocellaris and a black and white ocellaris. I would go a step further and say it could be a mocha clownfish crossed with a black and white clownfish. A mocha clownfish is what I described in my first sentence. Hope that makes sense.

See this all the time in midnight clownfish where they don't color up completely and still have that orange pigment. It's a Darwin and Regulsr Occ. crossed

My black and white was 3/4 inch when I got him and was not brown at all pure black and white. Looks like a mocha to me

Most if not all tank raised black and white ocellaris clownfish should be completely black and white like their parents from the get go. A lot of times their face has some orange to it, but with time the orange will fade and turn completely black.
