Brown jelly disease, opinions needed.

Hey everyone, my first time posting in this "section", I love LPS but also have SPS. I know the typical treatment and it worked for me once. Paint the affected areas with Lugols or something similar, dipping, blasting all of the jelly off......daily routine. Last time I got so sick of it I just used a toothbrush and brushed nearly all the flesh off the coral........THAT WORKED, it came back. Anyway, I'm hoping someone has a easier solution, or a proven solution that worked well for them, the iodine method is a huge pain and it may not even end up working. I know the cause of the problems, shipping damage, same as last time. Please help me out if you can, thank you! Sorry favia brain.

If its just tissue damage, lugols might work, but with Favia's and Favites it usually gets into the skeleton and starts eating and softening the base. I usually use a pair of needle nose pliers and remove all the soft spots and then use a razor blade to remove about a 1/4" of good flesh above the damaged tissue. Put it in an area with fairly good flow and leave it alone. In about 2 weeks, the polyps will start coming out again, and within a month, it will start recolonizing the dead area again.

Thanks for the help! This coral is badly damaged so I may end up removing most of it's flesh. I'll post back when I see how things turn out. Luckily this time I knew what it was immediately and removed it from the tank, it's now in QT and will be getting water changes frequently.
