mag -1400
trate -20
phos - 0

If it is dinos you can use 1ml per gallon per day of hydrogen peroxide. It will clear it up within a few weeks. If you go to utube and search justincredible he has some videos on this...

Second check for dinos. Also, see if someone near by can check for phosphate with a Hanna, the titration kits aren't very accurate for phosphate.

GONNA GO WITH LIGHTS out for a few days see if that dosnt work. if not im gonna try hydrogen peroxide, that is supposed to work on dinos.

It would benefit to post a picture and get an ID before taking action. IMHO lights out is not the solution. I have done it, and regretted it. It causes stress on the corals, and only temporarily makes a difference.

If you have dinos (again ID) manually suck out with a plastic airline tube and add a soda lime reactor to raise ph. At the same time run gfo to drop phosphate and make sure to change water to drop nitrates.

Based on a 4 month battle with those guys.

post a pic first also just turning the lights off will not work if you do have them then you have to cover the tank so no light gets in and keep ph up and then do a big water change it took 2 times to remove all of mine

i think its cyano.and yes i use kalk in my top off and have two lighted fuges on the system.i think this helps with the ph while the tank remains dark.the algae is all primarily at the one end of the tank with low flow.cant wait to get that 40.i am gonna try to post some pics but dont hold your breath, not very handy with the computer.

you forgot to place an img tag [in brackets] BEFORE the URL

looks like dinos to me...............

picture is a little small or my vision is going :)

at first glance I was thinking cyano, though I haven't seen green cyano before.

thanks blurry. my algae looks exactly like the top picture.the problem i have now is that the threads that i have read said that with the lights out dinos would disapear completely overnight and my algae did not.it did get smaller though. that is why i was thinking that it was cyano .maybe i should hit the tank with hydrogen peroxide, that is supposed to wipe out dinos completely.
