I recently started having and issue with some brown slime covering my sps and killing them, What is it and how do I get rid of it?

Im 100% this is not the common cyano.

maybe a powerhead blowing directly on the, happened one time to me with a birds of paradise birdsnest. moved power head and it recovered...Just a thought

How is your flow in the tank and on the top of the tank?

Have you shut your lights off for a couple days and slowly turned them back on running them for a few hours a day, slowly increasing until you are back to your normal usage?

you sure it's not brown jelly? that is the result of a ciliate, and is probably the no. 1 coral killer. you should remove all infected areas, and revive dip the remaining coral.

It could be, how could one get ciliate in their tanks?
Does brown jelly disappear when the lights are off? That's why I thought it was dinos, because it goes away when the lights are off.

I'm on my 2nd day with no lights. The flow is good.

well, they're always present. No, unfortunately they don't go away when you turn the lights off. A pic might be of some help, if you need an i.d. ;)

i had this and was a nightmare to battle. tried raising the ph with kalk, increasing flow with more powerheads, lights out and massive water changes. what i did was researched and found what worked for me was
dont do water changes. the dinos feed off the nutrients in the water. use a turkey baster and suck up as much as you can. dont blow it around cuz it will just move to another location. have small refugium with a light with really, really slow flow and the dino will start to accumulate there. run a phosphate reactor. dont dose any carbon source or amino acids as this will fuel the dinos more. now this method is not gonna cure it overnight but took me another month to finally beat it. good luck
