Brown tang with ick

Just got a powder brown tang about 5in big for free. Had no signs of ick till he was in the hostpital tank for about an hour or so. Soaked nori in garlic was given and he has no intrest, My question is, Is it to soon for a freshwater dip? And if not how long should I do it for? The fish looks like someone sprinkled baby powder on it.

i would treat with a course of hypo.

a fresh water dip will not cure him and is stressful.

it may reduce the number of parasites but will not eradicate them.

Since you have the fish in the QT forget the garlic ... like putting someone in the hospital, forgoing real medication and limiting them to chicken soup.

Yea, thts what I was thinking. I started the hypo last night, and most of the spots have mysteriously dissapeared, but there are plenty more to go.Step two is getting them to eat, I tried the nori with garlic, and frozen brine shrimp, but got little to no intrest. So, now I am going to try live brine and see If that works. Caus, If they dont eat they wont have a chance to make it through the ick ordeal.
