Brown to Green YAY!

Well about a month ago I bought this brown acro colony, I believe it to be bali aquacultured or some other indonesian aquacultured coral. Anyhow it was only 25 dollars im guessing because of the color, most other corals this size go for 60 to 80 dollars just to give you a clue. Over the past few weeks I've noticed it turning green, it still has a brown hue but it is getting greener :)

I take it this is a good thing? Should I expect it to color up to something else after the green phase or is green most likely what i'll end up with? Belive me its a cool looking coral.

What do you all think?

I had a chocolate brown colony in my old tank that I also got for $25. It ended up tan, with purple tips and green polyps. Don't you just love surprises (the good kind anyways).

Yeah, I was surprised about the polyps, because even they were dark brown when I purchased the colony.

Sometimes brown becomes tan. Green may be endpoint may not. Patience my little grasshopper, the fun is in the journey not the destination!!!

so true, im just glad i must be doing something right! Anyone else have any surprise stories of an ugly duckling acro?

I love buying brown outs myself,,, its like getting a present and ot knowing whats in the box....some of the nicest corals Ive ever grown out were brown when i got them and adapted and colored up in my system..... take some pics..:)

I like buying the brown ones too......

Brown(sometimes called peach) with purple tips, and lightblue polyps.

Tricolor valida?

I typically get it the other way around. I buy a nice blue/green/purple/yellow acro at the LFS for 100 bucks, and it turns an awesomely colorful poo brown. Afterwards, I sell it to local reefers for a few bucks, only to see the coral color back to that ugly blue/green/purple/yellow. I'm such a scam artist. :bum:
