Ones you get your phosphates levels down to ZERO, how long should you leave the media running in your BRS reactor?

I run carbon and GFO 24/7...I switch it out at the end of each month.

If your PO4 level is truly ZERO, then you are using too much GFO. Phosphate is needed by ALL living organisms for basic metabolic processes. 0.03ppm is a good number to shoot for.

The reality,m however, is that hobby grade test kits are just not precise enough, so I aim for "barely detectable".

Ok, cool, I will test with my Checker today and see exactly where they are at!

I re-tested my Phosphates by using a Hanna Checker and it is 3, which is prefecto!

.03 on Hanna checker would be very good.
3.00 would not be good. I'm assuming you meant .03

If it's the ULR Hanna checker, 3 would equate to a little less than 0.01. A little lower than I like to keep mine (0.02-0.04)

GFO 24/7, changed monthly. .02/.04 is normal. If it gets down to the bottom of that range, I simply feed a little more.
