Bryopsis & ULNS

I've read that the rabbitfish worked pretty good but was hit or miss. Plus i already have a queen angel, yellow tang, naso tang, maroon clownfish, firefish, 5 chromis, 2 steintz gobys, a hector's goby and 4 anthias. I'm not too sure about adding another large fish to the mix in a 180.

Raising mag. levels is the easiest and has worked for most.A few years ago i had it bad and made a lot of changes like buying a tds meter to check my di water,increased water changes to weekly instead of bi-weekly,added gfo,reduced feeding etc.I got rid of it within 2 months.

My husband and I have had some luck with kalkwasser. In a syringe mix the kalk with a small bit of water from your tank. It should be thick & pasty, but not to thick to squeeze from the syringe hole. Turn off your pumps & apply the mixture to your bryopsis, down at the roots. We usually let it sit on there for about an hour with the pumps off, then suck off the excess with a turkey baster before turning pumps back on. The next day I always do a water change to prevent issues with pH. Also, if there's a lot, I would only do a patch at a time. This method is a total pain, but it's worked well for us. My husband's tank had a TON of bryopsis, and using this method over the course of a month he eliminated it.

I'll definitely try that. Kalkwassers great stuff, ain't it.

After that we took a turkey baster and sucked off the excess. Then turned pumps back on. You have to move very slowly when you're applying the mixture as it can get messy. Also, we always did a water change the next day. We only applied the kalk to one area of the tank at a time. Didn't want to do too much and screw up the pH. This method is a pain, but within a month he was able to get rid of all of the bryopsis. Prior to applying the kalkwasser we tried mg without much luck and the bryopsis was all over the tank. I have this long stringy stuff that I cannot get out of my tank. Just checked my TDS reading 0. Going to run a lot of GFC this weekend. I might have to result into raising the Mag

Get a Lettuce Nudi!.. I use to have spots on some of my rocks and I got this Nudi and all I did was keep putting him where Byropsis are and one thing you know he liked it and with less than 2 weeks he cleaned up the tank ....

I've tried kalkwasser a couple of times, it seemed to kill the higher branches but didn't kill the holdfasts, so it just regrew after a few days. In any case the amount of kalkwasser required even if I spread it out over days would likely spike the pH too much.
A sea hare didn't work either, he barely touched the stuff. This stuff is of the devil.

My current Mg level is 1520. Cleaner shrimp, fish, SPS, zoanthids, LPS, crabs all appear to be fine. I've lost a couple of snails since I started dosing epsom salts but I can't link that to the Mg, snails all the time without explanation. I plan on bumping it up to 1700-1800, it's dropped lately due to water changes and the bryopsis that wasn't killed before is coming back.
