just shareing :D

funny offhand side note.. one of the people that got a nem from the split put it in a tank over 400 watt mh's.. and would you believe it has bubble tips!! after not even 2 weeks. bugger. I always blamed it on lights since my bubbles went away after i got an mh....

yeah they love the intense light, mine are under 400 MH's too. i would think 250's on a 45g would be enough?

yep definatly enough. i was actually leary on giving the nem to him because his light was so darn intense. but he put it at the very bottom, and it hasent budged an inch. its even still on the same rock i gave it to him on. but he got bubble tips!!!! lol

i firmly believe without me upgradeing to mh it would have died.

I have a nice bubbletip that has split about 40 times in the past 2 years, some were by its self and others i cut them. It is weird how the bubbles do go away. I have learned from Anthony Calfo that the bubble tip needs to be feed alot. He feeds his daily with silversides. I also found the lighting can vary largely. I have 3 tanks ( a 125gal reef with 300 watts of metal halide and 200 watts of pc, a 45 gal reef with 150 watts of pc, and a 29 gal reef with 30 watts of pc. ) All 3 tanks have several bubble tips and all the bubble tips are long and stringy looking. I started feeding mine more and found them to suck in and show more bubbles the more i feed them. I also have some anenomes that I have sold to others and they get bubbles instantly. My good friend put one of my bubble tips into his 12 gal nano and I finally got to see it all full and spread out with all the tips having bubbles.

I think it really has to do with lighting. The picture above is one of TOURKID's splits in my tank. It was pretty high up in that tank under 250w MH. In mine, it's almost at the bottom, but under 400w MH. It hasn't budged an inch so far (although probably will soon as it's outgrowing the rock). I think it bubbles just a bit to get the extra light, and remains happy. I would bet you anything that if I moved it up, the bubbles would disappear and go back to looking exactly like it did in TOURKID's tank.

Great pictures, they sure have their ups and downs don't they? :D

heehee thats my split :D

(dident want to post it without you being aware) :)

dc it certainly did for me. I wasent aware of that 6 month rule or I might have thought about it more. Im just glad so many people were here to help me with it. My nem is my all time favorite animal.
