I am looking at a Rbta, but I'm doing sme research and I found that pgmy Angels may eat one. I have a flame angel and he likes to chew on my sps. Should I be conserned?
I've never heard of a dwarf angel bothering a BTA. Some of the large angels will eat anemones, but I wouldn't worry about any centropyge species doing that.
I have kept BTA with angels and butterflies. The trick is to have a pair of clowns hosting in it. My Maroon clowns even kept a big emperor angel away. The anemone grew and thrived.
I had a Lemonpeel Angel take a bite of my bta several times. He didn't damage it but I removed him before he did. This fish was 8 years old and never had an anemone in the tank before. I was surprised because he grew up with a few coral species that he never touched. Once he was put into my tank he became a picker of several coral species and the anemones.
I have had Flame Angels and Regal Angels in the past that didn't touch anything. I think that gave me a false sense of security. You truly never know with Angels until you put it in your tank. Fortunately anemones are not considered as tasty as many of the corals we have and I agree that Clownfish are an excellent deterrant to keep them from bothering their anemone.
Well the flame has picked at the bta.... I only saw it happen once, going to have to monitor this.... It dosnt touch corals I don't care about. But the ones I want it goes for 'em... Thinking it hates me more and more every day
