bta and lighting acclimation.

hey all :) Ive been asking around all week about acclimating my tank to new lighting. Im going from
130 watts pc's to
250 watt mh
the bta has been in my tank for about 2 months. its moved alot and has shown signs of stress in the past. but recently she has been in the same spot (over a week) and is looking good. (the week before she was swimming, hopped to the substrate and walked around..)

So following advice, I put eggcrtate on top of my tank, with 5 sheets of screen.
I put the light to about 14 inches above water
Ive been aclimating for 3 days now.

I turn the pc's on in the morning. pull em off at noon and turn on the mh. 2 hours day one, 2 hr 20 min day two... then pc's agian for the rest of the day

TODAY...
I did the normal stuff listed above. after the first hour my bta started to kinda close up (fold inward) it has done this every day.
I started to get a lil tweeked out, and I decided I was moving to fast.

I pulled the screens off to put the pcs back on and the phone rang.. I went to get it and was back within three minutes.

The bta opened up agian and spread out enjoying the light.

I thought.. hu.. maybe I was shading everything TO much. So I put the eggcrate and ONE screen on. she seemed to like it. I let the time go to 2 hrs 45 minutes today

what do you guys think? should i try two screens tomorrow for 3 hrs? or am i moving to fast?

with the 4 and 5 screens the tank APPEARS really dark to me

sorry for the long post. looking forward to opinions

TIA
Maggie

My BTA always retracts for a little while when the MH go on. I'd say leave the one screen if she seemed to like that and then just extend the time a little. It really should only take a couple weeks to acclimate the BTA to the new lighting.

ok. ill try it. I was a lil unassured as to why I was using all the screens AND only starting off with two hours. thanks
