I have had a GBTA in my tank for about 5 months now and it lost its bubbles within the first week i put it my tank.. I assumed it was high Nitrates in my tank (around 25 ppm) which probably caused this..
I had a clown fish in the tank which was hosting in the BTA and through out that period it looked all stretched up without any bubbles..
Few weeks back i pulled out the clown as it was getting aggressive and last week I decided to add a porcelain anemone crab to host in the BTA.. Immediately after adding the crab in the tank the BTA closed up with the crab inside it and i thought the crab was a goner.. but after a few hours i noticed it opened up with somewhat of bubbles.. and its getting better each day, no stretching and small bubble tips..
Noting else in my tank has changed during this period so it cant be anything else.. So i am just wondering that does the Bubbles in the BTA depend on the animals hosting in them??
Any similar experiences?
Here are some pics..
