bta close call

So last nite i bought 2 bta and acclimate them set them in the tank they grabbed a hold of rock. (nice sticky btas) so i was going to re-aquascape to really give all my btas a island of their own with no chance of getting on the back wall and find them self in a power head, needless to say i didn't although i had lifted the powerhead up.on the bta side of tank. Well i woke up to 1 bta in my powerhead. Turned it off now letting it recover, since I'm at work patience is Wht i can do, besides bug my prego gf to check on it. What's the chance of survival the bta will pull threw? I couldn't get a good visual if the foot. I was half sleep and running late for work. My gf says it looks like it pulled itself out a little and it was kinda open with a little bit still in the powerhead.these 2 bta i just purchased would make the total bta count at 4. I know i should of covered the powerheads but couldn't find anything tht would fit. Any successful ideas? My goal is a all anemone tank so any help would be great. Oh the tank wasn't milky or anything when i was home.

For an all BTA tank, you're gonna want permanent covers or stop using powerheads. They will decide to walk for no apparent reason after being settled for months. Sometimes they like to just go for a walk a few days before they split. The BTA should be able to heal as long as it is healthy (aside from the damage) and your tank has the proper conditions for it's recovery.

It doesn't look like he got chopped up did he?keep powerheads off for a day or to till the find a spot then cover with screening.if he got chopped up you need perfect conditions and a dip in antibiotics.

BTA's seem to be able to survive a lot. Luckily I read in here a lot before ever getting any and put covers up before I even had any.

It appears to be in fairly reasonable condition. I don't see any sloughing tissue. Since Quadricolor's are extremely hardy for an anemone, I believe you have an excellent chance of recovery.

I actually lost two Green Quadricolor's to powerhead's just recently, myself. Two that were residing in my invert QT. =/ Good luck!

I wouldn't say that it is "always" necessary to cover the powerheads. It really depends on the location you place them and how far up the aquarium that they are positioned. I have 4 1050 Koralia's in my 125 and never had any issues. The powerheads are quite a distance from the bottom and I do not have rock stacked on the sides of the aquarium. One of my sebae's loves to move around, and never had any concerns with being caught in the powerhead. It also makes a difference when size comes into play. My sebae's are approximately 8 inches for one and 10-12 for another.
