i was wondering if it would be possible for me to keep a small bta in a 20g aquarium. it has been going for probally 8 months and all the perameters are perfect.

yes it is possible. however it will grow out of that tanks rather fast, so future plans for your nem to have a larger home to move into would be a good idea

see previous post a few days ago on this forum where I enumerated why I think BTA's in small tanks llike this are bad ideas, and FWIW I had one in a 20 for a year, and it sucked....only chance would be if you could find a BTA that is VERY small, then maybe okay until you upgrade

If that is the only cnidarian in a tank that small, it can work out ok. Of course, stability is one other possible issue.

agreed, if it has the tank to itself, probably fine, other than stability of water...

but why take it out of your 180? its probably happy as a hog in, well you know

If I was going to put an anemone in a small aquarium, I would get an anemone that doesn't get very big. Like the Majano, Waratah anemone or the Hawaiian Red Anemone. Well the majano is considered a pest to most aquarist. I think majano's can be very pretty and are like a mini version of the quadricolor bta's. Waratah's are a beautiful dark red anemone that is from australia.

I have a sebae anemone in 30 gallon, with two maroons. The maroons are just in there for quarantine, but the sebae is about 10 to 12 inches wide, she is huge. She is very happy, and has grown a lot in there. she is very attatched to where she is,but im scared that one day she will detatch and get sucked up into the powerhead that is in there to create water flow for her. your water quality has to be very good, but it is possible. I wouldnt advise it because mine is taking up more than 1/3 of the tank right now. I think that a small BTA is fine, as long as your water stays good.
