BTA in hospital won't attach - air trapped in foot??

Not sure what to do about this...

So after all the trouble I went to to make covers for the powerheads in my tank the BTA that I got went and got its dumb self sucked into a tiny slot in the overflow, and tore in half. One half was pretty well torn apart but the other was more or less whole in the bottom of the overflow. I plucked that half out and put it in a hospital tank. It's been about twelve hours since this happened. I'll be following antibiotic protocol as soon as I can get Cipro but for right now I'm more worried about the fact that it can't / won't attach in the hospital tank. I put it in a container (jam jar) in the tank but there seems to be an air bubble trapped in its foot. I assume this happened during the rescue from the overflow. Each time I try to put it back in the jar it floats out eventually through a combination of not attaching and not being able to help floating. Is there anything I can do about this or will it just attach to something eventually if it's ever able to do so?
