BTA Lighting

20inch or 15inch?
what size tank are you planning (size matters)
What other kinds of corals and what not are you planning on?

im looking at getting a BTA and i have a 6ft tank with 5ft x 10k fluoros and actinic . . . is there any anemones which will grow well in this tank and how long before i should introduce an anemone . . . my tank has been running for 3 mnths atm and wondering when an addition would be good :)

aquariums that small dont run well IMHO, and by the time you are done really arent any cheaper than say a 55. I spent well over 200 making a 20 long and the temp/salinity fluctuations in it crashed it in around 6 mo. Fish you could probably get away with but leave the inverts out.

To answer you question, 110 watts of pc would be ok for a BTA in a tank that size. Although, I would use more lighting if possible.

Ya, the tank is to small travisufer. 55 is the safe way to go for your tank if you want an anemone.

Funny, my two BTAs seem to be doing great in my 29g. They have been in there for over 3 yrs now. Along with a mated pair of GSM.

BTW --- The lights on that tank are 2 *96 pc (the 36" ones), and yes the hood hangs over the sides of the tank -- black duct tape stops the light spill over.

Sure they are fine. Probly a little cramped in your tank and you probly won't be able to put anything eles in your tank coral wise. It also depends on your experience.

I had a happy Large GBTA in a 27 gal bowfront softie tank with (2) 70 watt halides and a RBTA in a 20 H SPS tank with a 150 watt halide. Both were awesome and never caused any problems or went on any walkabouts.

Everyone has there opinion. Well from what im hearing now i guess its no different to house an anemone in a 55 or a 25. Just provide the right light and food and your on your way to a very happy anemone.

. . . and most importantly, water quality.
