no idea...maybe it was just on its way into the grave when you bought it, ive never seen a white bta that wasnt unhealthy...

It's starving to death. The disappearance of tentacles like this is very common when the anemone is starving - it's basically "consuming" the tentacles to stay alive. You need to feed the anemone small pieces of krill or uncooked table shrimp every few days going forward. And since the anemone doesn't have any tentacles, you'll need to gently hold the food against the anemone's mouth and let it "swell up/out" and envelop the food particle (don't jam the food into its mouth).

Good luck,
Kevin

Thanks a bunch will do this tonight when i get home .

wow, i didnt know that they ate their own tentacles... i figured they would just melt away...

Well, "eat" isn't really correct. They don't stick them into their oral cavity and digest them, they basically just suck them back in and use the energy that would otherwise be required to keep them (the tentacles) going to survive. Kind of like a person "consumes" their own muscle tissue eventually when they are starving...

So i gave the hand feeding thing a try i held it for about 10 min and let it go and about 5 min latter the Nem let it go i tryed and tyed and even tryed one last time just not working. what else can i do PLEASE HELP

Try using really small pieces along with the "upside down plastic bottle" trick. Cut the bottom off a 2 liter bottle of soda (rinse well of course - NO soap). make it so that you can lower the bottle over the nemmie (will be xtra hard if he's on a rock). Mush the food to where it is very small particles and use a turkey baster to shoot into the top ... then put the lid on. The idea is to have the nemmie in a bubble that contains floating food ... leave it that way for 5 or 10 minutes and let him absorb as much as he can.

As far as the lights, he's bleached so he can't really process light at this point. If you put him up in the lights he will move away and could even die. It will move to the light when its ready to process light. Your only hope for this nemmie is to feed it.

You might consider a hospital tank for this one. Move it rock and all into another tank with lighting. For one that sick, the lighting shouldn't me MH at this point T5s would probably be good enough. The added benefit of a HT would be that if it does die, you won't 'contaminate' the whole DT.

Try a different type of meaty food. Make sure you are holding the food near the oral opening (not further out on the oral disk). If the anemone is going to eat something, the mouth should swell outward and envelop the food within a couple of minutes. IMO, If you can't get it to eat, that anemone is going to die.

so i tryed to feed it again today and still nothing . It will start to eat but since it is hanging upside down it will fall out so i moved it by my other Nems's and place to shrimp in there again its notdoing much now . Will keep you all updated as i go . I really hope this will all work out here are a few pic

Hey everybody i just got my first rbta today! pretty excited, just had a few questions about the lil guy. First off when you feed em (once a week from what i understand) are u just reaching in and holding the food there until it grabs it (like silversides or something)? or would it be wise to just feed it brine shrimp through a turkey baster? Also if im trying to get my clown to pair up with it should i do anything specific? I was told i can isolate the two if it doesn't happen on its own but should i wait a couple of days before doing so? And any other tips u guys have for keepin him healthy would be much appreciated, cause like i said he's my first and he wasn't too cheap especially on my college kid budget!!

I dont mean to be an *** but maybe you could start your own tread .

my bad, i just clicked on the thread i thought was most relevant to my q.'s, pretty new to this.. just thought Anemone would be the best one to ask lol sry didnt mean to usurp ur thread

Hey COTD, yes, sticky is good as in better than not sticky. Any luck getting it to eat? I may get 'yelled' at for this but at this point you don't have a lot to loose. I think you might try making the food into a paste/mush, liquid enough to squeeze out of an eye dropper and then GENTLY place the tip of the eye dropper at the mouth of the anemone. GENTLY allow a LITTLE BIT of the paste out and see if the anemone will show a feeding response. (Of course suspending circulating pumps while you're doing this.)

Be very patient and if he responds, keep feeding BUT don't over feed because he'll just regurgitate it if he takes too much. I'd go with maybe a ml and give it a few hours to digest. Do this once a day at least and see if he doesn't respond, but again, just a little at a time.
