BTA taking over

Just a quick question I started with one bta about five years ago now there are 50+ bta in a 400G tank. Do BTA's produce anything chemically that would kill off other corals.....I'm having a hard time keeping other corals and I am trying to figure out the problem.....

What are the parameters in your tank?

Everything in the tank is in range........I have SPS growing on the other side.....Just I lose to many and am trying to figure out the issue

They will sting anything they touch. The only option is to remove them.

If you want to reduce the amount you have just start selling them. If you can get them off the rock and sell them you will be able to replace some of the corals you lost. Good luck hope you can get them under control.

I pull about 10 a month already for the last 6 months. Sort of saturated the market. I have already cleaned that many off the otherside to avoid touching of other corals......I wish my zoos grew this fast

How are you getting them off to sell? I have a bunch to remove, but just cannot get them out of the tank. I have tried powerheads, ice cubes - no luck. And of course, mine are all attaced to a giant piece of LR insead of rubble.

I cover them up with bowls/dead monti caps so they can't get light and a good portion of the time they move onto that new object and remove them from there. Once remove from the main tank I put them in a tank of rubble and the attach to it. or I pull the rock they ar on a chisel off a piece

A reminder to everyone that this is not the buying section. Just because there is a tank of BTA's posted does not mean it's ok to start requesting prices and if the OP will ship.

I blast mine with a powerhead till they let go, thats only if their on a piece of LR that i cant remove.

I've found that if your rock is resting against and up onto the back and side glass, they would naturally climb up as it gets crowded. A credit card easily scrapes them off with little trauma or damage. I have had no problem with other corals as long as they do not touch the BTA's.
