bta turned white

my bta has never been too spectacularly colored, kinda tan brown really. He's always been kinda ugly but I like him none the less. He started looking terrible, always deflated, not eating, etc etc... Then he split. Now I have two healthy looking bright white bta's. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

white is bad. it means they are bleached. the tan color you were seeing was the btas internal algea. they survive with it.
you can still keep yours alive but you need to
keep your tank very stable
have enough lighting to support having a bta
feed it more than normally, and soaking the food in selcon first would be a good idea. If its very well tanken care of, they should eventually turn tan agian.
what are you feeding them? (did they regrow theyre mouths yet?)
what kind/how much lighting do you have?

I feed them all kinds of stuff. Brine, mysis, krill, silversides, formula two pellets... they both regrew thier mouths. As far as lighting goes I have 440 watts vho and 130 pc in a 55 gallon tank. They look really healthy and they eat a lot but they are white.
