BTA + Vortech Setting

Do any of you BTA owners use Vortech pumps? I'm curious to know what setting you've found (pulse, reef crest, lagoon, etc..) makes your BTA most happy. I've read that the type of flow is important to BTA's and can even be a factor as to whether or not they show their bulbs or not.

Ok So, would that be the longest pulse delay you mean, or should I try to get the tank to resonate?

Resonate, here is a video of my tank that has a vortech and multiple nanos, but without the nanos the wave is just perfect.

yes not a problem at all.


vortech on wave setting is nice because it moves all the water in the tank without blowing in the same direction all the time like the other settings, the trick is to make it look like you have a wavebox in your tank

on a 3 foot tank

set pulse mode (blue led) then set the speed at 100% then press set button one more time and turn the speed knob down to the fastest pulse then slowly very slowly move the knob until the pulse last for just about a second any longer and the wave wont form.

take you time setting the pulse once you get it right you will be amazed.

I'll try that.. not sure if I can go 100% without creating a massive sand storm on this tank, but I'm fairly certain I can get the motion I see in the video you linked to. Thanks again

the pulse should not be long enough to create the storm.

the 100% just helps the pump have enough power to make a wave in a 3 foot tank,

well my vid isnt as cool as gsm guys cause my clowns are too dumb to host anything but its a 60gal 4ft long 2 high an 1 deep and the vortech makes a serious wave. i usually keep it like this as a side to side wave. but i can get a smaller wave too about the length of gsmguys pulse where the sides go up while the middle goes down and vice-versa
