So I have this BTA that was about 8 inches when I got it about a year ago. Then it got to about 12 inches, 5 months ago. The "bubbles" on the tips come and go. In this pic it looked like a LTA.

So now it looks like this. It has been getting worse recently. I am worried its going to die. :(

What do you guys think???

IMO, water changes to make sure it is nurished and make sure it has enough lighting and your feeding it enough. When the tenticles fade like that, it makes me think it is starving and it is consuming itself.

I may be wrong, but this is my thought.

Your beautiful gold striped maroon is the contributing to the anemone's demise. Note the twisted tentacles and the chewed off nubs.

While I doubt other potential predators could get near the anemone with the clown guarding it; do you have shrimp, cowries, butterflies, etc?

Anemones can deflate and inflate for varius reasons many are unknown. Have you change the light bulbs recently and have you tested all the parameters. It seems malnurished like the other posts say. However in my experience if an anemone is hungry it will be open all the way in order to try to capture anything and also to absorb the most light. I think something is stressing it out. Do a water change, run some carbon in your tank and test your water paramerters. Give it a week and report back the progress. Good luck.

It's important to note, bandit, that an anemone will also begin digesting its tentacles if it's starving. I think starvation could be the problem.
