I have a very large 12+" BTA that has divided a few times for me and its been great for over 2 years. It has never moved until a few weeks ago when it made its way into a powerhead. It was looking pretty beat up until one day the only fish in the tank went missing and the nem looked much fuller. It stood closed for a couple of days and now is opening much larger. This nem has never eaten fish so my question is would it eat a fish(expensive fish) to help heal?

I wouldnt be surprised, won't they eat pretty much eat whatever they can catch and fit in their mouths?

I would think it is much more likely that the fish died or was having some sort of problem before it gotten eaten by the anemone. Anemones cannot usually grab a fast fish like that and hold on to it long enough to kill and eat it. I have a huge (18"+) Sebae anemone that is in a hexagon tank. It takes up almost the whole bottom of the tank and it has still never managed to catch my flame angel, yellow damsel, or goby. Although last night it did spawn and managed to kill almost everything...

It is VERY rare, but it does happen under the right conditions. I believe my Yellow Tang attempted to squeeze between my H. mag and the glass, but didn't make it.

Ouch that is a shame, im afraid that is going to happen to my african flameback since he swims really close to my large bubble anemone all the time.
