BTAs and the bubble in their tentacles.

It's very common for BTA's to loose there bubbles in their tentacles. With all the experiences I have with bta and all the reading/reasearch I did. Does anyone figures it out when/why does it bubble up sometime? Eventually all bta will end up looking like LTA including mine but there were a few times that mine bubble up its tips. Everytime when it does that...I love it! There are so many speculations about why but just wondering if anyone knows???

I have maybe 15 clones from the same RBTA in my tank. The ones right on top of the rock under the 400Watt 20K halites are more flouresent pink and bubbly compared to others that are longer and darker. The lighting plus being right next to the output of a Tunze Stream are the differences that I can see. The bubbly ones are also generally smaller.

I think it's the lighting too. I've had the same Rose BTA for 4 years, and I kept it under T5 for about 3 years. Long stringy tentacles under t5's and short bubble tentacles under 250w MH.

my GBTA has done nothing but thrive in my PC-only 29gal, it has tripled in size in a years time, but since the very beginning, has never really had the bubble tips... no clones either, he just keeps growing

I have 6 BTAs, 3 RBTAs and 3 GBTAs, purchased from 3 different sources. All under Tek 4x54w T5 lighting in a 75g tank. None of them have bubbled up except one of the GBTA, in the very beginning when I first introduced into my tank. In fact, the RBTAs were all very dark scarlet red when I first bought them and now lightening up over time.

In short...no.

No one knows for sure.

Quick painless and to the point:). Lots and lots of theories, no facts...just like most of our hobby.

I have 3 in my tank. Only one has bubbles. It was one of the clones, it is much smaller than the original one.

I've had it for over a year, still has bubbles. It is near a high flow area.

The other one that has no bubble tips is 4 times the size.
Mine are only under 10K power compacts. On of my ballasts fried so they have been under just 10k lighting for about 3 months now.
