BTAs are taking over!

JokerGirl

Whistler's Mother
This past summer my friend brought over 2 of his 16 BTA clones for me to have. I figured how nice it would be to have something for my clowns now.

Well... 2 BTAs quickly turned into 4 BTAs and have been quickly taking over my tank. I managed to sell one a few weeks ago, and only because it was on a small enough rock that I just gave him the whole thing. The rest are attached to larger pieces.

For some reason my Zoos have decided they are going to continue to grow towards the mother BTA instead of away from it.

I love them, but wow they take over everything!

I've got a similar problem. Bought a larger sized one about a year ago that split soon after into 3 smaller animals. They split again, and I now have 8 small BTAs in a 75g tank. Joy.

Thanks :) I've been rather amazed at the growth that they've had since I put them in the tank. I never in my wildest dreams thought they would be this quick to reproduce.

BarkingCrab, wow... thats quite a few there! Are you having the same problem as I am where you want to get them out, but none will move on their own?

I also have the same problem with my GBTA. He dosen't like to get big like my RBTA. I have 6 of GBTA on my 40lbs piece Rock.

If you want to sell one of those one day let me know, very nice I wish I had your problem.

What size tank, lighting?

Let's not do selling in here. ;)

My rose has only split once in over 3 years.

I agree, this sections of the forum isn't for selling stuff.

It's a 120g tank, with 50-75g sump (not for sure since I made it). Lighting is an Aquaspacelight - 2x250w 12,000K Reeflux bulbs and one T5 actinic... the 2nd T5 is broken, just havn't had the energy to pull it down and find out whats wrong.

You can also see a 3rd BTA poking through from the back.

DC - thats so strange! do you feed it?

Well, it comes from splitting stock! :D

Do a 25%+ water change already!

Oh you're fine man! I know what you meant, and I thank you very much. I just don't wanna anger the mods. They might sick Buster on me.

JokerGirl, I do have the same issue. I've got a plan to get them out, but in order to do that I have to move a fairly large rock that's also the spawning site for my clowns. I'm hoping to have a crack at moving most of them to a QT after the holiday.
