BTAs in a 34 gallon tank

I posted this in the general reef forum but got no responses. Maybe it's a dumb question Anyway, I'm setting up a 34 gallon cube and I'm planning on having just two occelaris clowns. Probably no other fish. I was thinking of putting a red and green BTA in there and making it a mostly anemone tank. I had a RBTA in my 180 so I know they get pretty big. Is there any reason this is a bad idea? I have a 150 watt metal halide.

I don't see you having any problem especially being an anemone species tank.

I don't see any problems either. You may have an issue mixing different color morphs of bta's; may be something to think about.

I thought that being the same species it would be ok to mix colors. Of course if mixing colors is an issue I won't do that. That's why I'm posting this here. Thanks

I have had issues mixing greens into my rose colony. I have two different rose variants that get along but when I added a green, the green withered away (this occured twice and both were healthy on initial purchase). From googling it I have found that some people have had issues while others didn't; just something to keep an eye on if you try mixing morphs.

Good old Kramer . Try getting a captive raised clone. Should fill out the tank in no time.

BTAs of different colors are commonly kept together without issue. If you lost a couple of them in a small tank where there were already established anemones the most likely problem is they couldn't find a spot with sufficient light to sustain them.

BTAs that are healthy will split when stressed. If they just withered away they weren't healthy.

A search on this site will reveal that some people can mix no problems while others report they have problems. You can decide for yourself but it would be best not to quickly dismiss the claims of those who have had issues.

In my situation their was plenty of space/ light, the greens did not fair well and some of my rose clones started to wonder when mixed with the greens. When I removed the greens the clones returned to the exact same spot they were before the introduction of the greens. The greens were also purchased healthy so that was not an issue either.
