has anyone used both the bubble-king mini 200 and a ATB medium? I have been useing a mini 200 on my 240 for over a year and has worked great. but wonder if its enough i herd some good thing about the ATB. thanks for any help...

personally I don't feel they are comparable. I think the BK mini is a niche product specifically designed for those with limited sump space. It is the best performer in skimmers with it's equivelent footprint. I don't however feel that it's performace should be compared to something like the ATB medium which is a much bigger skimmer with far more contact time.

but the pump on one of them is inside the body so all of that space is wasted as far as reaction time.

the Mini is the Best small footprint skimmer on the market but its a small footprint skimmer.

Exactly! Thanks for confirming that GSMGuy. I was reading his post and thinking maybe my post did not adequately point that out.

i was just thinking the atb might do a better job skimming in my 300 total valume (with sump) heavy sps and lps. the 200 mini does a great job but i don't know if im skimming enough. thanks for your input.

jpa it is likely that you will see increased skimmate production/water clarity making that switch, one thing that is nice about buying the ATB and BK skimmers is they hold their resale value better than some other brands, makes it easier to switch it up later on.
