Bubble Magus Dosing Pump for ATO?

Hey guys...looking for an auto top off for my 30 gallon sps dominant build. However, i know at some point i will want to invest in dosing pumps as well. Will the BM 3 pump unit work well enough to use it for top off? Kind of killing two birds with one stone with this idea, as the pumps will also dose Cal and Alk.

I posted this in the equipment forum...but wanted to put it here too to get feedback from serious sps keepers.

Thanks in advance guys!

It's not meant to move that much water imo. It's going to burn out the pump head/motor faster and you won't be able to run it on a float or similar measuring device. Evaporation fluctuates all the time so you would have to constantly monitor your salinity to make sure it's keeping up or adding too much in short it's not made to do that =)

To dose kalk separate from your Ato it will work but you would be better off getting a stand alone for your Ato. Or If your getting a controller some come with them (reef angel) out of the box or can easily be done with them..

Fwiw there's plenty of cheap Ato systems out there to be had.

Only system I know of that does what you want is the Pacific sun kore5th.. It comes with dosing heads and a separate Ato.. But it's double the price of the BM =)..

The Litermeter 3 can do what you want. I used it for many years by adding my alk two part to the evaporation top off water.

Basically you're looking at two times a year when you have to adjust for a change in evaporation from winter to summer.

You can add pumps to the main unit if you need more than one.

If you're looking to save some cash............I use a cheap Drews doser a good valve, and a timer from Home Depot for my top off and use a Bubble magus for my Alk/calc.

Thanks guys! I knew it wasnt really made for that. Just wondering if anyone else had tried it. Ill need it for 2 part anyway...but ill just invest in a seperate ATO :) not really the hobby to skimp on
