Man, i sure wish i could ask a question. :sad2:

NP. Just no questions on the BM150 side by side as Ed asked me not to comment any further on that unit. :)

Yep, it is the same 180g fish only tank.

I had similar experience with the H&S A200 skimmer that I owned. I never filled my collection cup before I did my weekly cleaning. But when I sold that skimmer to clkwrk, he fills it about every 5 days to the brim. I'm sure a lot has to do with bioload and feedings. IMO of what I saw today, I believe the BM200 is a good fit for the 180g medium bioload fish only tank. It probably can handle up to 200g heavy bioload and still will keep up.

I have tried many different things to get my ati 200 to skim, and they finally worked, I got skimmate at these settings, it is run in seven inches of water and the key, I think on getting it to skim was to slow down the air draw to 10 lpm and immediately the bubble's got a lot smaller and an hour later there was skimmate.

I checked my wheel, it was 45 mm like it was supposed to be. I was lucky enough to have a dwyer meter that has adjustable intake on it, and now @ 10 lpm there is skimmate. I am going to try and run it @ 12lpm and see how it does. If the valve is wide open the pump pulls about 15lpm. I posted before, only twelve, but I did not have the valve all the way open. I am going to post some pics when I get some good NOG!!!

I also have to thank Greg for calling and helping me out, you can't beat great customer service!!!
I missed this post earlier. Any updated photos of your BM200? It maybe similar to Deltec where a new skimmer needs to start with a restricted airflow first (2 o'clock position on Deltec air valve) and then slowly open up as the skimmer breaks in.

i am not sure but i am thinking now that it's depend to in the sump size where the skimmer sit

can you tell the size of your sump and the size of clkwrk sump (where the skimmer sit)

I'm really not sure. Looking at the amount of very wet skimmate, it seem similar in consistency as what was pulled out by the BM150, but more in quantity for the first 60 hours. Remember, this skimmer isn't broken in yet. The only difference in preparation is that the BM200 was cleaned in a warm mild vinegar solution for a couple of hours before it was setup.

For my H&S A200, I fed the skimmer directly from the 2 overflows on my tank. And clkwrk is doing the same. But he gets 3x more skimmate than I did and I skimmed very wet as well.

i am sure that the size in the sump where the skimmer able to feed with more water volume the skim result will be high then small area , personal i test it in my sump and i test it with same skimmer and different pump the result was different when i take out the baffles twice then i got with the same bioload.

the test was with the ER CS250 with sedra , gen x , eheim (h&S pump).

Probably true of in sump skimmers, but not sure if there's any effect on recirculating skimmers that are gravity fed directly from the tank's overflow boxes. I know that in sump skimmers are sensitive to sump size, sump waterlevel, whether the water drainning into the sump is directly from tank or has gone through any filtration first.

i know that everyone said the RC skimmer work better then in sump skimmer but to be real sure need to put 2 skimmer one RC and one in sump (in open sump) and to test it .

i saw deltec 851 (very good skimmer) on 300 gallon tank with about 45 fish (big tangs) and what you show on the bm200 he don't get in 4 days , he also have the ATI250(with the eheim pump) and when i saw the first compare the ATI give better result. my ATI skim better then his on small bioload and small tank.

realy interesting if i had a space in my stand i could test it to put my 2 ER (same skimmer one in sump and one recirculating)
unfortunately i don't have the space for that.

Same for my local dealer, no space and no time to redo plumbing. So, I've stopped trying to ask him to do it. Like I mentioned earlier, he's probably tired of seeing me. I need to work on his partner now as the BM250 should be in by the end of the month.

when you feed the H&S from your overflow (i think you put ball valve i not remember i read tha post long time ago) do you know how much water volume you feed the skimmer ?

and what water volume clkwrk feed noe the skimmer ?

maybe the result of his skimming because the different water volume that the skimmer feed in .

P.S sorry if i was misunderstand but i didn't mean to ask you to try that with your LFS.
