little tanks dont cause ich, ich causes ich. putting a hippo in a 1000 gallon tank with out qt or ttm first can give your tank ich.
only reason to not put a hippo in a small tank is because your setting yourself up to fail.
this fish grows to big and needs to much open room to swim to be housed in a small tank. now if you are an expert and want to push the limits a little, i am ok with that. but someone new to the hobby shouldnt try something that most experts will still fail at
Chances are your LFS will ask him what size tank he has and talk him out of it...or simply refuse to sell it to him. One of our LFS does that. For a big angel, they require you to have a 240 or larger. For a blue tang, I believe it's a 180 or larger.
That's a good LFS....I use things like 20g tanks full of baby blues to feel them out. You can tell real quick what kind of place you're dealing with by asking how much space they need
