Budget Skimmer Idea

Does anyone run a skimmer on two tanks? By that I mean run it on one for a couple of weeks then move it and run it on the other? I have a good sized expensive skimmer on my 125 and just set up a new 120 gallon tank. I really am not looking to spend another $400 on a new skimmer for it.

I would just sell the skimmer and plumb the two tanks together somehow and buy a larger skimmer to skim both. The added water volume will benifits both tanks and take less equipment to maintain.

CS180 Bubble Magus. The big issue with merging the two is the new tank is for seahorses so will be kept cooler than the other one. I probably could get away with the lower temp for both but I found my clowns get very lethargic in cold temps.

Don't run your clowns at cold temps! You could run the skimmer back and forth but you're going to get so so so sick of doing it. I say purchase another skimmer or nix the sea horse idea and run the tanks at the same temp. Seriously, you're going to hate switching that thing.
